News: Music Along the Lighthouse Trails

In August 2024, Darius Mažintas held five unique musical performances by different lighthouses across Saaremaa, Estonia, where he performed improvisations inspired by Lithuanian and Estonian folk song motifs.

The journey began at the Pervalka Lighthouse, inspiring the idea of a Baltic lighthouse tour in commemoration of the Year of the Lighthouses. “The lighthouse is a symbol of freedom, showing direction. For me, it is the direction of life,” explained Mažintas.

Supported by the Canadian foundation Looking at the Stars, Mažintas has also performed in prisons and hospitals, and after the outbreak of war in Ukraine, among the ruins of Irpin and Izium.
